This course is intended for those healthcare professionals, neuropsychologists, school psychologists, pediatric psychologists, sports psychologists, child study teams, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, athletic trainers, school nurses, teachers and educators, and athletic personnel who work with student athletes.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the cognitive skills that are affected by concussion.
  2. Discuss the model for concussion recovery as it pertains to return to school.
  3. Describe academic accommodations and adjustments that can be implemented as the student recovers from concussion.


Speaker: 

Danielle Ransom, PhD, ABPP-CN

Dr. Ransom is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist and pediatric subspecialist in the Institute for Brain Protection Sciences at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She also serves as the current Secretary for the Sports Neuropsychology Society.


Catherine McGill, PsyD

Dr. McGill is a pediatric neuropsychologist and the director of McGill Neuropsychology. She is the Symposium Director of the Sports Neuropsychology Society and a consultant for the Virginia Concussion Initiative with George Mason University.


Instructional Level

This is an Introductory to Intermediate Level course. The educational content is approved for 1 CE credit.


The Sports Neuropsychology Society (SNS) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Sports Neuropsychology Society maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
